Swiss Genomics Association 2027 seminar

Emerging standards with lasting collective value

Date: Wednesday, 12 May 2027
Location: University of Zurich (UZH), Zürich, Switzerland
Room: To be announced
Time: 14:00
Awards: 2027 Open Omics Awards

About

Genomics and multi-omics increasingly connect academia, healthcare, and industry. Yet many of the systems used to generate, analyse, and interpret data still rely on different formats, interfaces, and conventions.

Shared standards can make these systems easier to connect, compare, and verify while allowing each organisation to choose its own methods, software, and commercial model.

This seminar brings together people from across genomics and multi-omics to discuss emerging formats, interfaces, software standards, and evidence structures that create and amplify lasting collective value.

The programme will be intentionally focused, with short invited talks, open discussion, the 2027 Open Omics Awards, and informal networking.

Programme

The programme is currently being developed.

  • Welcome and state of SGA, 10 minutes
  • Short talk 1, 20 minutes, Q&A

  • 2027 Open Omics Awards, 20 minutes
  • Discussion: priorities for SGA 2027–2028, 30 minutes

Participation

The seminar is intended for people working across multi-omics, genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, clinical genomics, data science, research infrastructure, industry, policy, and related areas.

Further information about participation and registration will be announced here.

SGA Open Omics Awards

The seminar will also introduce the 2027 Open Omics Awards, an initiative recognising those who create a shared foundation for the future.

Please see the information page for details: 2027 Open Omics Awards. Anyone may submit a nomination, and self-nominations are encouraged.

We welcome nominations from all backgrounds, including industry, academia, healthcare, public organisations, non-profit initiatives, community projects, and individuals.

To nominate a contribution, email admin@swissgenomicsassociation.ch as explained on the information page.

Supporting organisations

Genomics works best when academia, healthcare, and industry can connect their systems and build on shared standards. This seminar brings those communities together to help make that possible.

We are working with organisations that share this goal and can support the seminar financially or in kind. Supporting organisations will be acknowledged on this page and at the event.

Support does not influence the scientific programme, SGA guidance, or the Open Omics Awards.

To discuss support, contact admin@swissgenomicsassociation.ch.

Supporting organisations
